The National Bank of Ukraine invites students, postgraduates, and young researchers (under 35) to take part in the Emerging Researcher Forum, to be held in Kyiv on 23 May 2025.
New format for cooperation with youth
This year, the NBU is updating and expanding its format of cooperation with students and young researchers. There are two options for participating in the forum:
- regular reports with the presentation of completed research projects, and
- poster presentations of extended abstracts or promising research proposals.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to present their own research, discuss ideas and interim results, and receive detailed feedback and constructive recommendations from leading experts of the National Bank of Ukraine. The forum will serve as a platform for professional dialogue, facilitating networking opportunities, and fostering collaborations for future research initiatives.
The working languages of the forum are Ukrainian and English.
Presentations of completed research and a poster session will be held offline, and the event will be streamed online for a wide audience.
Main topics of the forum
The forum will focus on the current challenges facing central banks in the face of large economic shocks, the aftermath of war, rising uncertainty, global fragmentation, and the specifics of post-war recovery.
We invite submissions on the general theme of the forum. Topic examples:
- Monetary policy and macroeconomic stability: crafting solutions in a stormy environment
- Financial stability and credit market development: New approaches to risk management
- Addressing Long-Term Economic Growth Challenges: Structural reforms, transformation and European integration
- Digitalization, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence: Prospects and threats for the financial sector and the economy.
How will participants and prize winners benefit from the forum?
All forum participants will receive certificates of participation, and the authors of the best papers will be awarded incentive prizes and get an opportunity to undergo an internship at the National Bank of Ukraine. In addition, the most interesting papers will be recommended for publication in a special issue of the Visnyk of the National Bank of Ukraine, the central bank’s journal, in the format of a complete scientific article or abstracts.
Explanatory online workshop from NBU experts
In preparation for the forum, NBU representatives will hold an online workshop to discuss the central bank’s research priorities. They will also explain in detail the peculiarities of preparing a research project, an extended abstract, and a research proposal in poster format.
The online workshop will take place on 4 April 2025 at 1500. You can register at the following link.

The NBU has been holding research conferences for students and young researchers annually since 2017, except for a forced break in 2022. Previous events were held in cooperation with the Kyiv School of Economics.
Over the past seven years, young researchers from various universities and research institutions both in Ukraine and abroad have submitted 144 papers. Of these, 71 were selected for the conference finals. Twenty one of the conferences’ participants have since joined the NBU team. Many of them have been following career paths in various units of the Ukrainian central bank.
The results of the previous conferences are available here.
